Racing Incident Report

Race One: (179) – LUKFOOK JEWELLERY HEXICON HANDICAP – Class 4R – 1200 Meters

1. LIGHT YEARS GLORY (K204) – M Chadwick: Shifted in at the start, bumped, and shifted out near the 350 meters when being corrected, again bumped.
   • M Chadwick explained that he was instructed to take a forward position and follow GEORGIAN SIGMA. When his mount lacked pace, it had to race wide without cover.
2. GEORGIAN SIGMA (L007) – Z Purton: Shifted in abruptly at the start, bumped, and made contact with RUBY THRIVE near the 900 meters.
3. COOL BOY (L014) – J Orman: Bumped by GEORGIAN SIGMA at the jump, shifted in near the 350 meters, and bumped.
4. ELITE GOLF (L023) – H Bentley: Right front plate adjusted in the saddling stalls, examined and cleared to race. Steadied to take a position behind SALON S near the 900 meters.
   • RUBY THRIVE, racing greenly, shifted in abruptly after contact with GEORGIAN SIGMA, causing ELITE GOLF to be steadied when crowded.
5. EXCELLENT BOY (K435) – R Kingscote: Jumped fairly.
6. FALCON HUNTER (K503) – C L Chau: Unbalanced at the jump due to LIGHT YEARS GLORY’s shift in, raced wide without cover until near the 700 meters.
   • C L Chau intended to hold a midfield position with cover but was caught wide early on. He adjusted his strategy, settling further back than expected.
7. FOREVER FANCY (K354) – D Probert: Bumped by TURIN CHAMPIONS at the jump, steadied near the 350 meters between COOL BOY and LIGHT YEARS GLORY.
8. JOLLY BRILLIANT (K498) – H Doyle: Lay out making the first turn, steadied to avoid WORD OF KINDNESS near the 250 meters, and again near the 900 meters to avoid RUBY THRIVE.
9. RUBY THRIVE (L098) – C Y Ho: Contact with the starting gate’s right side, raced ungenerously, and became unbalanced near the 900 meters.
10. SALON S (K585) – M F Poon: Shifted in at the start, bumped, and sent for sampling post-race.
11. STAR ELEGANCE (K536) – L Ferraris: Steadied near the 1000 meters when crowded by WORD OF KINDNESS, steadied away from JOLLY BRILLIANT at the first turn.
12. TURIN CHAMPIONS (L024) – K De Melo: Shifted in at the start, bumped, and raced tight to the inside of ELITE GOLF near the 200 meters.
13. WORD OF KINDNESS (K569) – Y L Chung: Bumped by SALON S at the jump, lay out near the 850 meters, became unbalanced and blundered, and raced tight to ELITE GOLF near the 100 meters.
14. SUPER DRAGON (K389) – J McDonald: Jumped fairly, held up on the Home Turn, and again between the 400 and 250 meters for clear running.

Stewards’ Findings and Actions:
– The Stewards concluded that RUBY THRIVE’s racing manners were the principal cause of the incident.
– Z Purton, the rider of GEORGIAN SIGMA, was advised to ensure sufficient racing room for runners inside.
– M Chadwick and J Orman were warned to exercise more care.
– RUBY THRIVE will undergo a barrier trial and official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
